Connect with your audience through professionally printed booklets and catalogues that present your offerings clearly, from product showcases and event programs to training materials that get results.
Booklets and catalogues are versatile marketing tools that showcase your products, services, or information in an organised, professional format. While catalogues are more well-known for being a handy document that showcases a full product range, they are quite similar and can be interchangeable with booklets as both book types are shorter, informational documents used for promotional purposes.
We’ve proudly printed and bound these books to a high standard for a range of Australian businesses and highly recommend them for anyone looking to produce publications that prioritise accessibility, visual impact, and cost-effectiveness.

What's the best book binding method for booklets and catalogues?
The two main binding methods for booklets and catalogues are saddle-stitch binding and perfect binding (the same used for traditional paperback books). What works best will vary based on many factors such as page count, handling requirements and expected lifespan.
- Saddle-stitching is usually the recommended and most cost-effective binding method when a publication has a smaller page count in the multiples of 4, would benefit from being able to lay open completely flat and needs a quicker turnaround time. The binding process is simple and involves printed sheets folded in half, nested together, and secured with staples driven through the spine or thread-sewn from the outside. The result is a clean, flat publication that opens naturally and lays flat when viewed. Not only is the binding process fast and efficient, allowing for quick turnaround times but it also means the book has no spine width to calculate, simplifying the design process.
Ideal Projects: Product brochures, event programs, newsletters, instruction manuals, conference guides, event schedules, festival booklets, theatre or play programs, promotional booklets, induction booklets, quick reference guides, training modules, assessment sheets, school workbooks, client intro packs, and short-run marketing materials.
- PUR perfect binding is also a great choice when durability, professional appearance, and shelf presence are important. It’s also cost-effective and provides the versatility of being able to bind a book no matter the page count, as the pages are glued together to a wrap-around cover at the spine. This method provides a surprising amount of strength, durability and flexibility, creating a presentable square spine, however, this method won’t easily allow you to lay the book open flat unless and you’ll need to allow for binding margins to prevent important content from disappearing into the spine.
Ideal Projects: Product catalogues, seasonal catalogues, trade-only guides, corporate reports such as annual reports, training materials, reference guides, membership directories, capability statements, project showcases, mini brand books, zines, self-published comics, and substantial marketing pieces.
Both binding methods are compatible with premium finishing options, including spot UV coating, embossing, foil stamping, and specialty die-cuts which can elevate your publication's first impression and perceived value. Considerations for Booklet Printing
Cover Paper Stock: Heavier cover stocks (250-350gsm) provide better durability and professional feel for both binding methods. Saddle-stitched publications benefit from substantial covers that protect interior pages, while PUR-bound publications need covers that can withstand spine flexing.
Internal Paper Stock: Consider paper weight, finish, and opacity based on your content. Heavier text stocks create more substantial spine width in PUR binding, while lighter stocks may be preferable for saddle-stitch to prevent bulky spines.
Page Count Requirements: Saddle-stitch works best with publications containing 4 to 64 pages (in multiples of 4). The optimal range is typically 8 to 32 pages, where the binding provides excellent stability without becoming bulky. Meanwhile, PUR perfect binding works really well with publications containing 28 to 300+ pages. The minimum page count ensures adequate spine width for proper adhesive application and structural integrity.
